These delightful concerts held in the sanctuary of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church provide the perfect early-evening musical interlude. The 2009 series featured a concert with musicians from the Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra as well as a solo recital from the superb pianist Andrew von Oeyen.
Mon May 25 5:00pm The startlingly gifted American pianist Andrew von Oeyen returned to Spoleto Festival USA in a solo recital featuring six Chopin pieces, Prokofiev's Sonata No. 7, and von Oeyen's own "The Mill," composed when he was 14.
Sat May 30 5:00pm Conductor Pierre Vallet lead the Festival Orchestra in a performance of Mendelssohn’s ebullient "Italian" Symphony No. 4, as well as Rossini's sparkling overture to The Barber of Seville, and Trittico Botticelliano by Respighi.
Thu June 4 5:00pm One of the perennial favorite events of the festival features the opportunity to hear our opera singers in an intimate setting. This program featured Stefania Dovhan, Louis Otey and David Cangelosi from Louise in a vocal recital of arias and art song.
